Teacher Talk
A BIG thank you to those that attended our Back to School Conference last Saturday, August 22; it ended up being the biggest day of professional development NGPF has ever hosted, and you’re the reason why!
Jeremy Schneider of Personal Finance Club opened the day with a case for keeping wealth-building simple, live below your means, invest early and often. One attendee wrote:
"I'm a first-year educator and a first-time Personal Finance teacher. I want my students to know their wealth management can begin now, and how one piece of information can catalyze community upward mobility."
Our keynote came from financial journalist and New York Times bestselling author Beth Kobliner, who walked through how much has shifted for young adults in the 30 years since she wrote Get a Financial Life, from first-time homebuyers aging from 28 to 40, to "frictionless finance" and the disappearing pain of paying. As one longtime teacher put it:
"I've been teaching this for 20 years, and having to keep up with the changes can feel intimidating. Good to have new resources to help with this."

The session slides and recordings from our speakers are up on the Virtual Conference page, and the fall calendar is filling in with Virtual PD sessions, Speaker Series events, and teacher panels.
Thank you for starting the school year with us; we can't wait to see you at a Virtual PD session soon!
