5 Things to Know About Conference Opening Speaker Jeremy Schneider

We're thrilled to welcome entrepreneur Jeremy Schneider as the opening speaker at our Back to School Virtual Conference on August 22. The founder of the Personal Finance Club will share more about his career journey and his work championing the individual investor by providing accessible financial education. Learn more about Jeremy.

1. He sold his company in 2015 and retired two years later at 36

He started his career founding a small internet startup called RentLinx that helped landlords list their properties for rent on multiple platforms simultaneously. At age 34, he sold that business for millions of dollars, invested the proceeds into stock and bond market index funds, and retired by 36.

2. Despite retirement, he wanted to keep running Personal Finance Club

Two important conversations helped push this idea. The first one was the CEO of the company he just sold to asking what he would do when he gets back from his island fantasy. The second was a conversation between his mother and grandmother where the former asked, “Why are we all here?” when you achieve that money, and his grandmother stated to help others.

3. Personal Finance Club was never intended to become a business

It was a hobby at first, and then when the pandemic hit, he created a business accidentally. He launched his first course in October 2020 and sold it for $50. Within the first week, he had over $100,000 worth of sales.

4. He was always the lowest-paid employee at his company, RentLinx

This was intentional as he would invest most of his money into the company, which allowed him to make more than he did selling the company. It also allowed him to pay his employees well, including engineers on six-figure salaries.

5. As of today, the Personal Finance Club Instagram account has close to 700,000 followers

Jeremy turned two simple rules into a movement. Rule 1 says to live below your means, and rule 2 is to invest early and often. As an Instagram account that started in 2018, he has been posting frequently, with 2,150 posts and tens to hundreds of thousands of views per video, all coming for easy-to-understand finance advice.
