One of the highlights of our NYC FinCamp: I got to sit down with four reporters from the Dow Jones newsroom and pepper them with questions. Even better, so did the teachers in the room.

The panel: Gunjan Banerji and Oyin Adedoyin of the Wall Street Journal, Jacob Sonenshine of Barron's, and Genna Contino of MarketWatch. Between them, they cover meme stocks, stock picking, student loans, sneaky financial products, and how young people handle money. The exact territory our students are living through right now.

• Gunjan on where the line sits between investing and gambling, and her "cowboy account" idea: let students put 5 percent of a portfolio into their YOLO trades, cap it there, and put the rest in index funds. Sometimes a small taste teaches the lesson better than a lecture.
• Oyin on the 17-year-old she profiled who serves as his immigrant parents' financial advisor. When a car salesman quoted his parents a 10 percent rate on an auto loan, he pulled up real rates on his phone, pushed back, and walked out with something closer to 6. That's the ripple effect of financial education in one story.
