A Little Booklet, a Big Mission

We're excited to welcome Amy Porter as the first Vice President of Development at Next Gen Personal Finance. Amy brings a deep, career-long conviction that education is the great equalizer. Read on to get introduced to Amy.

There's a moment I keep coming back to as I step into this role.

I couldn't have been more than nine or ten years old when my parents took my sisters and me to People's Bank to open savings accounts.

I don't remember much about the branch itself, but I remember the little booklet, and I remember the feeling of watching the number grow. Babysitting money. Birthday money. Various jobs through high school. Each deposit just felt good.

That early lesson that small, consistent choices add up to real security, is one I was lucky to receive. Not every young person is.

That's exactly why I'm thrilled to join Next Gen Personal Finance.

I've dedicated my career to the belief that education is the great equalizer and that where you start shouldn't determine where you end up. That work has taken me through higher education, inner-city Catholic schools, and college access programs.

In each of those spaces, I've seen what happens when young people are given the tools, the knowledge, and the belief that opportunity is within reach.

Personal finance education belongs in that same category. Managing money well isn't a luxury skill, it's a life skill.

I am proud to join a team doing this work and so energized by the community of educators, partners, and advocates who share this mission.

I look forward to getting to know you, learning from you, and working alongside you to reach even more teachers and students in the years ahead.

Here’s to all we will build together!
